About The KS-1(HQ-12) Medium-range Surface-to-air Missile System
KS-1 (Kaishan-1) is the export version of HQ-12 air defense missile. The improved models are KS-1A and KS-2C. There are currently three countries that have purchased KS-1: Myanmar purchased Type A, and Turkmenistan and Thailand purchased Type C.
The HQ-12 air defense missile is an improved version of China's HQ-2 air defense missile in the 1990s. He joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army in 2007. As the most well-equipped surface-to-air missile of our army in the past 10 years, HQ-12 has filled the gap of regional air defense under the field conditions of our army after the retirement of HQ-2, and supplemented the second air defense network built by the Russian S-300PMU system. Cooperating with our army's existing short-range air defense missiles and long-range air defense missiles, three air defense systems with different air defense levels have been formed, which has improved our army's air defense system and greatly improved our army's air defense combat capabilities.
