About The Tengden TB-001 Drone
The TB001 drone, dubbed the Twin-Tailed Scorpion, is a strike and reconnaissance unmanned air vehicle (UAV) developed by Tengoen of China to meet the requirements of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and export customers. The TB001 drone is powered by two engines and also features twin tail being the first UAV produced in China with such feature. The new drone can stay airborne for 35 hours and travel over 3,700 miles (6,000+ kilometers) carrying both weapons and/or surveillance sensors. The TB001 UAV control system is compatible with satellite communications and can deliver the Blue Arrow LJ-7 air-to-ground missile. The TB001 fixed-wing drone was unveiled by CASC in September 2017.
The TB001 drone can use missiles, including 20 kg class ar-2 air to ground missiles, the missile can use a variety of guidance methods. Powerful enough to destroy light vehicles, armed personnel on the ground and other targets. The weight of the missile is very small, and it can be carried by four joint mount racks. In the past, four ar-2 missiles can be carried by the mount point of one AR-1 missile, which improves the fire endurance. In order to destroy heavy armored targets and fortifications, 80 kg AR-4 air to ground missiles have also been put into the market. The AR-4 is powerful with a range of up to 20 kilometers and can be launched from a height of 7000 meters, which is far superior to the Hellfire air to ground missile of the United States. Moreover, the flight altitude is higher than the effective interception range of the short-range surface to air missile, improving the operational safety of the UAV. AR-4 can use infrared seeker, TV seeker or millimeter wave radar seeker.
